Re: Making presto 6n feedscrews out of wooden dowels?

Fair enough.

Just a idea to see if anyone did it or if they had a wooden lathe to try amd experiment.

We are in the experimenters area ?

I like this cutter that Gieskes made awhile back.
I can see him doing something with dowels and the like.

Re: Presto 6n feed screws

Could you make lower count feedscrews? Like around 88 or so?

Re: Making presto 6n feedscrews out of wooden dowels?

Oh yes i have ordered a Feedscrew from Rolandjays awhile ago for my 6n and its really well made.

The wooden dowel would be a interesting thing if someone pulled it off.

Making presto 6n feedscrews out of wooden dowels?

I saw this video on youtube:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=rS8gAxr_yxE

And it gave me a idea of making feedscrews out of wooden dowels for the Presto 6n.

Has anyone attempted this?

Any ideas why it wouldnt work?

Re: K8 rebuild. Motor trouble.

Have you tried the original spindle adapter that goes on the k8 motor that makes it spin on 78?

From the looks of it that spindle adaptor you have on the motor might be too big?

Re: Newb questions

Hello Flexinoodle this is tenshun from DV. As for your cutting head, have you tried and disconnect it from the vestax and connect it to a working amplifier? The sound you are hearing could be a loose connection. I would try and disconnect it from the vestax. Try connecting it to a amp and turn the v...

Re: Jccc Modified Presto 6n cutting

Heres a short clip of a diy lathe cut scratch record i made on a plastic plate. As you can see in the video it tracks pretty well and the sound is holding up. I think if i make the spindle hole just a bit more small it will prevent the needle from wobbling around. I am still experimenting! The recor...

Re: Presto K8 cutting.

When i record into the k8 my signal chain goes like this: Sound source - Mackie 1202 mixer - presto K8 Radio input. With the Mackie mixer i apply a eq to the sound source (usually drop a little of the lows, keep the mids at 12 and turn the treble up ) before sending it to the K8. So far i have been ...

Re: FS: Presto K8

I can agree with gridlock on the k8.
This machine is a beast! You can cut loud recordings with the right eqing and setup.
I still use mine along with my 6n for cutting.

A really great machine with nice tube distortion if your into added a little grit to the mix.

Re: Light marks when cutting with diamond

Re: First real cut with Diamond

yeah it looks like you can cut louder.

you want the needle to cause excursions and see more wiggles in the grooves but not too many wiggles or the grooves will connect and the playback needle will just jump around.

keep on playing with it until you find that sweet spot.

Re: Presto K8 Vinyl High End Hiss Sound (Video)

thats awesome news! it only gets better from here. once you dial in the correct eq and volume youll have some nice recordings.

The K8 is a really nice lathe once you figure it out and find its sweet spots.
