Alternative to transco 462 stylus? Can anyone help?
I use a presto model D, and have used the transco 462 cutting stylus and am down to my last 3 stylii - does anyone know if there is an alternative I can use? I am desperate!!!

alternative needle to transco 462?
Can anyone help? I have a presto model D, and use a transco 462 stylus- since the fire at the apollo factory, i bought the last 462 from the european transco supplier, and have cuts booked in- once this needle is done, i don't know what (if anything) as an alternative to this needle - any ideas anyo...

thanks very much- i have the manual- it says to use a duralumin stylus, sapphire, and as you say, no more than 5/8inch...

advice on cutting needle for BSR DR33C
Am hoping someone can help- we have got our BSR DR33C record lathe up and running, playback sounds good, and tested it today with a transco recording styli 462 (which is what we use on our Presto Model D lathe). The needle work to cut it, but it had a very high level of scratchiness to the recording...

I'm doing the anytime, anywhere type field recordings- so something portable (or as much as they are from that time!)- my presto D weighs about 30kg, so am used to humping a great big machine around!

what stylus for presto model D?
Am hoping someone can help me- i now have a fully working circa 1938 Presto model D (identified by your good selves!), but have now got stuck on what size/type of needles will be compatible.... I've checked with the transco blanx people, but they're a bit stuck too! Am planning to use 10" dub plates...
