Re: Presto feed finger question

My overhead is the old Presto model which was the precursor to the 8D. The 8D overhead used replaceable blades to contact the feed screw. Because my overhead had a fixed blade I created a interchangeable system for mine. Luckily, to remove the finger it was a screw that was also part of the lowering...

Check with EpicenterBrian, he took over Alan's website. I have a few of the same manuals original/copies and could possibly help out.

Re: Unidentified Presto Turntable

Looks like this one has been modified for 3 speed, the original was 2 speed, 78/33. The capstan/pulley on top of the motor shaft should have 3 steps on it instead of two in order to achieve 3 speeds. I think I've seen another one before modified for 3 speed operation.

Second picture - looks like a reel to reel unit/size 10 grey boot
Third picture - I see a motor and maybe a volume/control box
Fourth picture - Another RCA 73B painted sky blue
Fifth picture - looks like the drive mechanism out of a Fairchild

Re: What's Your Lathe Acquisition Story?

So far everything is just as I received it except I changed the cutter head and added a dash pot. I do have long-term plans to set up a belt drive motor.

Re: What's Your Lathe Acquisition Story?

I have had a few lathes in the past 8 years since I started this crazy journey but the one that I have kept and sits beside me now is a Frankenlathe. "Back in the day" (I mean when I started looking/buying stuff 8 years ago) you could find stuff here and there. I bought a few lathes through eBay, fi...

Re: Cutting with a diamond cnc engraving bit?

A conical tip does not actually force any material to be removed from the resulting groove, it simply moves past or around the rounded tip. A cutting needle has a flat front to force material to come out of the resulting groove instead of simply passing around it. It's sort of like the difference be...

Re: Scam: Vortex "Disc Cutting" System

So many things wrong with this video from what I can see. 1. The turntable before he even drops the head looks like it's not running at the correct speed, then he drops the head and it gets so much worse. 2. I don't know about the magnification on the microscope, but I don't see any modulation in th...

Just checked, MyShank sells red, white, blue, and green. White is solid color, others are transparent.
