Re: Laser Etching in US?

There's a small laser etching shop here in Minneapolis that I had help me make some jigsaw records. They're called Create Laser Arts and they expressed interest in working on more or different record projects. They're just pretty into working with different mediums and on different projects in gener...

Re: looping issue HELP!

I've occasionally received similar feedback after testing records on three separate turntables, one of which is a crappy Numark portable with no adjustment capabilities. Everything looked good, sounded good and played through here but some people's turntables are different. I've had people make adju...

Re: Anyone cutting 16" records?

Tragwag,
Should I put them in touch with you? It's a band called +Hirs+ and I don't know the budget. I've made a couple of records (7"s, 10",11"s) in the past. I'm just not able to commit to a 16" record at this point but want to help them get it made.

Re: Anyone cutting 16" records?

Opcode66 can you pm your contact information? I can make the blanks and cut the record as well but am too busy to make the custom size blank and spend the time on making a 16" record now. I'm unsure of the total number of records for the order. I was just approached to have it made. Thanks for the h...

Anyone cutting 16" records?

I was wondering if there is anyone offering 16" cuts? I was approached by someone to make an embossed poly 16" record and I'm honestly just not up to doing it and was wondering who I could refer them too?
Thanks,
Graham

Re: Tungsten Embossing Styli

John reached out to me to test some of these, I've used three styli over the last month and each has given very satisfying results. There is no "conditioning" or "break in" period. They are useable right out of the box. I found that with turtle wax they were slightly noisier than some rubies I've us...

Re: Adhesive for Lexan picture disk sandwich

I use Loctite spray adhesive. It does dry a little cloudy but bonds to non-permiable surfaces. You do need to be careful to keep the tip fresh or else it will come out more as blobs and less as a mist. If it's applied evenly it can look pretty sharp.

Re: Flexi Materials

I've been making flexis by embossing on .010 polycarbonate. It's about the same thickness as a transparency. I've also used .015 and .020 which are less "flexi" but a little easier to work with because they lay a little flatter. For the thinnest stuff I'll tape the edges to a bigger blank to keep th...

Re: laminated discs...

I laminated cardstock 7"s at Kinkos and tried cutting them but the laminate seemed to gummy or soft. I couldn't get a discernable groove to cut, it was more like a mashed trench. I ran out of records to try and never went back to make more. It may totally work, I only tried to cut, not emboss them a...

Re: ghost grooves

I've had this happen as well and found that what I'm cutting effects the ghosting sound. Sometimes a deeper groove minimizes the effect and sometimes a shallower groove. I feel like the weight of the playback stylus has the most effect along with the anti-skating. If the tone arm is weighted to one ...

Re: Adhesive Labels

I have labels custom made from Onlinelabels.com. They don't offer these on there site but 7" small hole labels and 12" labels are codes OL991WX and OL1654WX. They have templates for them as well.
