Hey @Jccc, that's a really beautiful package! Love the color scheme of purple-white-glitter.

Any fun RSD releases?

Hello fellow trolls, Is anyone putting out anything fun today for Record Store Day (or, as we call it here at Displaced Snail, Record Snail Day)? I've had a hectic day making releases materialize out of thin air, and I'm exhausted, but I pulled off a good spread! Today, I released: - Basement Blende...

Re: Cats on My Mind

We made a playlist for the event that contained both Cat People and a couple Kifness songs, haha. Once we started digging, it was pretty easy to fill a three hour playlist with cat songs. Other favorites include: Aesop Rock's Kirby, Hot Chip's Alley Cats, Kitty Kat Fan Club's You Can Sleep on Top of...

Re: Cats on My Mind

Thanks everyone! Just a bit of fun, we only made 30. The song is "Cats on My Mind," a little ditty I wrote with a friend of mine about a week ago in time for the launch party. I had bronchitis, so it sounds pretty weird, but still fun, haha. @piaptk you've created a monster. @phoenix Favorite cat: N...

Re: Complete Noob Here

I can...fourth? fifth?...the idea to work with @piaptk. I attended lathe cut camp and it was awesome, and I've now bought two lathes from Mike, a 6D and a Rek-O-Kut Challenger. Love 'em both and use them at the same time pretty often. FWIW, both are mono heads, and I haven't noticed much difference ...

that mounting screw looks so beautiful with the stamper. I have a couple stampers I've been meaning to frame for the artists, maybe I'll try to whip up something similar!

Cats on My Mind

My wife has a new anthology book called Cat Party! that's just come out, so we're having a book launch at a bar here in Philly. I whipped up a few special edition discs with a song about my favorite cats as an extra piece of merch, LOL!

Re: PRESTO K-8 NEWBIE IN FLORIDA

Hey Ryan! Welcome to the world of lathes. I'm still new myself--I've only been cutting since October--but I got started by attending lathe cut camp with Mike Dixon. For what it's worth, I just got my second lathe, LOL, so it's really sticking! I'd recommend reaching out to him, he does Tech Support ...

Re: The farmer and his plow - When I set out to build a record cutter

Hello Thomas, just popping in to say this is all very impressive! I'm lost when I try to actually follow what you're doing, though quite interested in following along and learning more about it. It's too bad I only got my first lathe late last year - I was a vendor last spring at Fanzineist Internat...

Hey @whitricketts, thanks so much for the kind words! I *nearly* sold out in the Kickstarter, but just added a few bundles to my website =D I'm doing another Kickstarter launching in March for the next book, though, that will have a few subscriptions for the whole series. https://www.displacedsnail....

On the Record Poetry

Hey everyone! Thought you might get a kick out of a new project I'm co-curating this year with my partner Katie, On the Record Poetry . We're doing 6-8 poetry releases over the course of the year by different poets. Each release has a chapbook and is accompanied by a disc of some kind: the first rel...

Re: 'THE ROUND' a large scale kinetic/sonic installation artwork

Wow, that is extremely cool - I'd love to sit in that room for awhile to feel what the sound is like. Great work! And very cool metal work, @farmersplow I'm working on my first installation piece involving lathe embossing, but I've only had the machine for about two months now so I have to make sure...

Any use for 3.15" polycarb discs?

Hello all, I recently had a few sheets of "0.06 (1.5mm) polycarb cut and figured I'd have a bunch of 3.15" discs cut from the scrap just in case my machine could emboss onto them, but alas, no such luck. Anyone have any use for them? I'll probably hang onto some just for fun or craft stuff, but if y...

Re: Removing the film (+ my first releases, woo!)

That worked! I tried using a penknife to cut a tiny piece of the plastic, and it worked so well I went and did it to the next ten records I had to emboss before even peeling the easy side and it helped a lot. And the cut is so shallow and near to the edge it's no danger to the music. Thanks!

Removing the film (+ my first releases, woo!)

Hello lathe friends, Question: Is there some industry secret to removing the film from polycarbonate discs? One side is always easy because the saw leaves some strands hanging off to grab, but the other side really disrupts my flow making 7" records when I can't get a hold of the film anywhere. Any ...

Any members of vinylengine?

Hello, anyone here a member of vinylengine who could help me out? They're not currently accepting new users, and I'd like to get the Sansui FR-D35 service and owner's manuals to fuss around inside and disable auto-stop, I can't hear as many of my lock grooves as I'd like. Thanks, Joe https://www.vin...
