Re: Professional vinyl record lathe step by step
Great photo, you can see a super solid recording machine made in the USA, a real powerhouse of stiffness, amazing. I make something similar, but not cast in cast iron, it would be very expensive.

I took this photo once, the scale shows how light the hood for the power and drive coil must be at normal writing speed
e.g. 33.33rpm [not half speed] to reach several kHz 0dB, hood diameter 9mm, weight 0.021g...

Re: The farmer and his plow - When I set out to build a record cutter
nice board, but not for the head with 1" coils, I'm waiting for super sound effects... unless it's supposed to be a bass head...and without a sopran:)

It's safe to say that this part of the vestax head is a complete misunderstanding... It is safe to say that this vestax head holder, including the torque tube, is heavier than the left and right channel power coils, including their bodies and cables, and the torque tube, which I used in my experimen...

Re: Professional vinyl record lathe step by step
Someone probably didn't understand what it means to record at half speed, but it plays back at normal speed. For example, you record with a machine at a speed [exactly the speed] slowed down by half, i.e. reduced by 50% of the rated playback speed on the turntable. And so if you play a record on the...

Re: Professional vinyl record lathe step by step
Now, if someone praises his head with Chinese vibrators with a coil diameter of 1 inch and would like to sell it to me, I will only tell him this: "Boy, I know, don't send it to me, but I can support you with half the money for this head, but don't send it to me because it's a poor art... "

Re: Professional vinyl record lathe step by step
I read a saying somewhere on the Internet: "Give me the weight of your drive unit and I will tell you how much your head is worth and what it is capable of..." A certain Troll trolls here on the forum [probably here on the forum, Swiss?] wrote that these German heads have drive coils with a diameter...

Re: Professional vinyl record lathe step by step
who is an expert in electronics and reading diagrams, will it work properly? :) regarding this power amplifier diagram with active negative feedback, you still need to remove the C517 capacitors and put 150pF in its place, and throw away C522 and use 100pF in its place, and connect the input and ou...

Re: Professional vinyl record lathe step by step
I am speechless! First concrete picture. The V-spring and above all the cutting stylus are still missing to determine the actual frequency range when cutting. But a good job for three hours and otherwise nice and small. I'm curious to see what a complete, functioning cutting head looks like on your...

Re: Professional vinyl record lathe step by step
:) And one more thing about this prototype, you should forget about trying to make a decent recording with such a prototype head in plastic, polycarbonate and other similar materials, such a head will choke due to the resistance and hardness of these materials, it is absolutely not suitable for cutt...

Re: Professional vinyl record lathe step by step
I have some time, so I can argue with you. This primitive prototype of the cutting head [even the cutter is not visible because it was removed from the aluminum housing in which it was glued to reduce unnecessary weight and the cutter itself was glued into the reaction tube [1.2mm tube, not a rod], ...

Re: Professional vinyl record lathe step by step
one can only add to this thread that this primitive experimental head is smaller than one Chinese 20W 4Ohm transducer, and it outperforms these Chinese transducers by 10 orders of speed and acceleration... that's just so much magic... and so much that understand what is going on...

here is a photo of the drive coil of a professional head, it is very easy to burn it... :) A drive coil from a professional head will last for many years if handled professionally and is not easy to destroy. If handled incorrectly, any coil will burn out easily. Whether a professional head for $10k...

Re: Professional vinyl record lathe step by step
So many posts with so little content - that's quite remarkable. I won't argue with you, but I have to tell you this. I tested these Chinese vibrators at half speed and reached a fairly even level at 3kHz, which gave about 6kHz at a specific speed of 33.33 rpm. I had to completely change the correct...
