Re: High-torque Turntable options for embossing
Thanks for the reply, wow, those tables have some torque!! ..And at that price.. I might just have to save up for one.

High-torque Turntable options for embossing
Hey there, I have been doing some research on motors to spin a platter and found that there are some deals on ebay for Rek-O-Kut turntables. Would something like this suffice, and would it be worth the price? Thank you for any and all advice. https://www.ebay.com/itm/276395302957?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mk...

Re: Help with motor to dive platter
I have been coming back to this thread every so often when I have time and half a mind to spend some money, but I am not even paycheck to paycheck at the moment. Just wanted to say thank you for all the great info, I really really appreciate it.

Re: Help with motor to dive platter
DM'ed!!
As for the stepper motor, it looks like it has a .5" pully, so I used this cool site (blocklayer.com/pulley-belteng) and got 1,080 RPM for 45 RPM. The motor says P/N 127DE03050 ... 23KM-K035-P7V ... NO. T7505-03

Re: Help with motor to dive platter
Hey there, thanks! I was experimenting using a NEMA 23 with a TB6600 driver. 12 volts .. Does that make a difference? Using an arduino, I dialed the speed as high as it would go, but it got the platter to spin at around 15rpm. What exactly do you mean by a "full on servo"? Is it less than 500 bucks?...

Help with motor to dive platter
Hello trolls, I am trying to figure out what I need to spin a platter. I made a mono embossing head that sounds great, but my direct drive turntable does not have enough torque to cut without warble until it gets a bit closer to the center. I have some NEMA stepper motors, but their max rpm is not e...

Re: Embossing on polycarbonate
I forgot to include these..
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1bB2tf2k2hCnGXD-jXByBYa0JoGh8GwaV/view?usp=drive_link
Still working on the lathe aspect, (there is some noise, which I assume is from the motor) but I am proud nonetheless.

Re: Embossing on polycarbonate
I can attest to the quality of these. After working on my own head and lathe for the past 5 years with the help of this amazing forum, I decided to get one. I dialed in the EQ from my second embossing, and my third turned out pretty damn decent. The people at recordlatheparts.com were also very help...

From https://community.robotshop.com/forum/t/power-supply-requirements-for-stepper-motor-controller/28483 "The TB6600 Stepper Motor Driver 72 can input from 9V to 42V. The current output from the driver can be set to : 0.5A, 1A, 1.5A, 2A, 2.5A, 2.8A, 3.0A, 3.5A. The recommended voltage of the RB-Phi...

Re: Need Help and Direction for Building a Lathe
Also, for my cutter-head, I used a tungsten cone shoved into a 3mm plastic washer sandwiched between two Dayton Audio DAEX19CT-4 exciters, which I hot-glued to a janky arm, (it happened to kinda fit into the aluminum beam like the piece you see attached to the lathe) in the build style of a Japanese...

Re: Need Help and Direction for Building a Lathe
Here's a link to to something similar to what I am using for my lathe, with an arduino and stepper motor controller; I don't have time to track down the same product. Hope it points you in the right direction. If you're new to arduino, (as am I) you might have some luck using Chat GPT to give you s...

Anyone here living in FL, USA?
I just wanted to reach out and see if any of y'all live in the Gainesville/central FL area and would like to talk. I recently got a cut (embossed on polycarbonate) to reproduce to the point where you can "hear the song", although there's nothing higher than "shh" in the frequency range.. however, I ...

I wasn't thinking about a CNC laser, but rather one that could focus to a smaller point.. After some recent thought, and knowing what real grooves look like, I don't think...

Re: Cutting records on a cnc mill
Hi, I lurk here often. If I understand correctly, the discussion is about using a CNC to cut a grove based on an audio file. I have been thinking about something similar, but it would bypass the CNC and just cut a record with a laser instead of a stylus. I don't know much about lasers and CNC, but s...

WTB cutting stylus
I'm looking for a stylus for cutting records, obviously, but I also wanted to ask specifically about myshank; a couple years back I made an account to look into their products, and from what I remember I was met with a question, something like "what is your current setup", to which I had to answer "...

Fairchild motor question (junkstore find)
Hi there,
I found a motor at a local thrift/junk store. It seems to have two power inputs, and since it says Fairchild Controls Corperation, I thought it might belong to a record cutter (two inputs>>two speeds, ?)
Anyone know what this might be?
Thanks!
-Mike
