Re: Just switched to plastic and diamond, loud hiss.

Greetings, just want say that I use both pc and Myshank blanks . My general rule of thumb after putting alot of time and money going the slighlty cheaper route of diy pc blanks is that if I use pc I will only emboss with tungsten cones by farmer john, even thos I can and have grind out my own cones...

Re: Just switched to plastic and diamond, loud hiss.

The more I mess up, the greater the chance of me using your stylus services more often. And this is where you don't know me at all... That would be what I want, I would not have made a FAQ page, I would not reply to all mayday email everyday, I would not find solution for many people... And I would...

Re: Just switched to plastic and diamond, loud hiss.

You are a good salesman sir. I'd be foolish not to try your records, so I will.

I won't be giving up on the project with my mate though. Anyways it's good business for you yeah? The more I mess up, the greater the chance of me using your stylus services more often.

My good friend has a CNC, and he is cutting my blanks. What is a good material to go after?

What's the price you pay for 1 blank made of Makrolon?
About $2.40

Re: Just switched to plastic and diamond, loud hiss.

It is a My Shank diamond, and man I hope I didn't break it after the first day  I am using Turtle Wax. I don't think my weight is too much, because I've adjusted that to the point where the grooves are too shallow. I find that the noise coming from the stylus happens any time it is cutting, ...

Just switched to plastic and diamond, loud hiss.

After getting used to cutting acetate with ruby, I made the switch to diamond on makrolon. The biggest problem I'm having is a pretty invasive hiss. There is an audible noise when the cutting is actually taking place from the stylus, so I figure that's translating to the record. I'm sure there are m...

Re: Lead in/lead out modification

Thanks for the reply guys, it's good to know there is hope. The late is an RCA Instantaneous Recorder, I haven't really been able to find anything about it anywhere. It works great though. Lead in and lead out would be ideal.

Lead in/lead out modification

Hey everyone,

Any tips or tricks on how to add lead in/lead out capability to a lathe that otherwise doesn't have the capability?

Thanks!

Re: First cut on RCA lathe with Presto 1D

Thanks for the reply guys, I didn't see them until now! The head rebuild contact is much appreciated. Cleaning seems to have been a must. This is definitely a frankenlathe, it's being driven by a technics 1200, I suspect the turntable is also a problem with the flutter/wow. I'm quite new at this, an...

First cut on RCA lathe with Presto 1D

Hey everyone, Just made my first cut with a set up I acquired. It's an RCA lathe with a Presto 1D cutter head. Everything seems to be in great condition. I've been researching for about a month leading up to today, and now that it's done I have some questions! First of all, what a great feeling it w...
