If you make adjustments to the Technics pitch slider, you should also make a similar change on the motor's fine speed control (the large silver knob )

Might be the mechanical 'linkage' rather than the coils themselves

And you should also state that you don't run the audio through Souri's main unit, so that cannot be the cause of the issue either.

It looks more like the cut depth is going shallow for 4 rotations, rather than overcutting.
I'm no expert on the VMS70, but you might want to inspect the feedscrew for debris in the thread and also check the halfnut is adjusted correctly too.
