Re: Lazarus Lathe Project

Could you let us know who Aaron suggested to supply your drive belt please?
I may need something very similar soon! ;)

Thanks.

Re: A Futile Chip-Vacuum Project

Hi,

Just a thought, but wouldn't you need to synchronise the fan blades on each unit to ensure that interference patterns weren't created, therefore distorting the overall effect?

Thanks.

Re: vinyl recorder with precision motor

Hi Marcy,

I'm very happy that you finally managed to resolve your problem!
I consider this thread has vital information for all VR owners so maybe it should be archived for all to discover on a future search.

Re: vinyl recorder with precision motor

Hi again Marcy,

Could you cut some unmodulated grooves into a black blank, then take a 2 photos: the first of the problem area and the second where you think the problem stops (I realise this last one it tricky!)

Thanks.

Re: vinyl recorder with precision motor

Hi Marcy, From the results of your testing, I think we can also rule out the dashpot as being the root cause of the problem. And, yes, the plunger hitting the bottom of the dashpot cylinder whilst cutting is not good and something to avoid. Your new video of the precision plate measurement looks lik...

Re: vinyl recorder with precision motor

Hi Marcy, The pivot connection in your video looks correct, so no problem there I don't think. Perhaps I was going a bit far when I said that the dashpot plunger would rise to around the middle of the cylinder. It really all depends upon how you have the suspension set up (height, angle, counterweig...

Re: vinyl recorder with precision motor

Something else just occurred to me... - Set the overhead motor speed to be fairly high (e.g. around 40-60) - Manually wind the cutting head to the start position for a 12" - Without dropping the head, stylus heat or vacuum, switch the overhead motor on and listen carefully to the noise it makes - Le...

Re: vinyl recorder with precision motor

Hi again Marcy, In the video of the precision plate, it appears to be within tolerance, although I cannot see the scale on the meter in enough detail to be absolutely sure. Please look at the areas highlighted in the image below. YELLOW: This is the dashpot which contains a plunger inside the cylind...

Re: vinyl recorder with precision motor

Hi Marcy, Firstly, using the adjustment tool, recalibrate the precision plate to make sure that it is as flat as it can be; i.e. within tolerance on the meter. Next, whilst you are cutting: - check that the dashpot plunger isn't anywhere near the limit of travel; especially make sure it never hits t...

Re: Deep Grooves Mastering - Dr. Cuts Vinyl Mastering VST

Hi Todd,

Just to add to the info, I have the same issue on Mac - plug-in not being registered in the DAW on the following system spec:

OS X 10.8.5 (Mountain Lion)
Intel Core i7 quad
Ableton Live 8.4.2 and 9.1.4 (32 bit)
Ableton Live 9.1.4 (64 bit)

Thanks for all your hard work on this!

Re: Deep Grooves Mastering - Project Bladerunner

As usual, great work all round Todd.

I'm especially interested in your plug-in :)
I know you're still developing it, but I was wondering if it'll be available for Mac as well as PC?

Thanks,
Sue D.

Re: Deep Grooves Mastering - Plastic Cutting Video Guide

Thanks for taking the time and making the effort to do this video T. It's an excellent guide ;) One question... you mentioned the potential for channel cross-talk if you don't have the diamond stylus aligned correctly. Would you expect this cross-talk to be 'weighted' in one direction or another dep...

Re: Tried cutting on Polycarbonate, broke my needle..

Some great information here guys - many thanks to all ;) I'm currently following a lead that, in Europe at least, a Bayer product known as "Bayloy 10" is the one we are all searching for. Here's link to the data sheet: http://www.sheet.bayerpolymers.com/index.php/fuseaction/download/lrn_file/mf0039_...

Hi,

Are you referring to this company/website?

RECORDCUTTINGBLANKS.COM
Bahnhofstr.12
15732 Eichwalde

Metafon posted about his supply service though has since gone very quiet!
Plus, his account on here is marked as INACTIVE due to profile details change (whatever that means).

As far as I know, he's still doing his best to get back on his feet.
He was hoping to sell one of his 6Ns but the deal wasn't done the last I heard.
