The 4th point was probably the most important considering the melted swarf around your diamond!

Re: New cutter problem :(
My advice is: 1. clean your stylus to remove all that melted swarf (you may need to remove it from the head to get it completely clean) 2. make sure your suction tubes are also clean of any swarf and nothing is stuck 3. check to make sure that your suction is strong and that there are no leaks in th...

Re: What is the name of this instrument?
I've always known them as 'dial gauges'.
e.g. http://www.cutwel.co.uk/measuring-tools/small-tool-instruments/indicators/dial-indicators/dial-indicator-insize-2301-series
Hope that helps!

I'd really like to see an example of head down/up automation.
Done quite a bit myself but never seen that!

Re: Exchange Dynamic Cutterhead Vinylrecorder Souri
No you still need the 'normal amp' as this is the Power Amp which drives the cutting head's main coils.
The 'feedback amp' is really just a pre-amp which mixes the cutting head's feedback coils back into the main signal path.
So, in summary, you need both.

Re: Staticide for anti-static?
Thanks for that Ben.
I'm very interested in this so would you mind giving us a little more info please?
e.g. what were the rough measurements of isopropyl alcohol to fabric softener to distilled water in your mix?
Cheers!

Re: STANTON ST150 & OTHER SUPER OEM TT FOR CUTTING WITH EXAM
Having looked at the specs again, the wow & flutter seems pretty high compared with the other turntables on the market. I wonder how much we can trust how each manufacturer came by its figures! For example, Pioneer quote a figure of less than 0.01% for their PLX-1000 which is crazy :o "Wow and Flutt...

Re: STANTON ST150 & OTHER SUPER OEM TT FOR CUTTING WITH EXAM
Hmm... that's very odd then Gus as that is not what Denon were telling everyone at NAMM 2017! Perhaps the Prime is a new upgraded version of the VL12? An excerpt from the DJ Worx review: "Denon DJ decided to buck the Hanpin trend and build their own turntable" https://djworx.com/namm-2017-denon-dj-v...

Re: STANTON ST150 & OTHER SUPER OEM TT FOR CUTTING WITH EXAM
Personally, I don't think we can class the upcoming Denon VL12 Prime in the same 'OEM' bracket as most of the other Hanpin-manufactured models. Naturally there are many questions that will need answering when it comes to using the Denon VL12 Prime to cut or emboss, but I'm looking forward to seeing ...

Nice set up! ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
I didn't realise that you were the actual DJ Misjah of 'Access' fame.
Man I used to hammer that slab of vinyl back in the day!
I still own loads of your XTrax releases - nice to know you're on here and cutting mate![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)

Re: Just switched to plastic and diamond, loud hiss.
I'd start with adjusting the cutting angle and cutting weight.
Sounds like a silly question be I assume that the diamond is of decent quality (i.e. MyShank) and not damaged?

I second what Jccc just said.
I managed to grab a physical copy of vol.1 whilst I was still learning the basics and it taught me just about all I needed to get started.
