Re: Tokyo Dawn Labs "SimuLathe"
Absolutely amazing plugin here - something I've been waiting for forever. Speeds up my workflow + better sounding records. Been using it since the start of this year. I can start prepping cuts on my laptop while away from the lathe and come into the studio ready to go with some virtual "test cuts" a...

Re: Tip: Zuma FS in Los Angeles
I believe Kevin was the beta tester for the DJR computer, designed to replace the Zuma. I think he's had the DJR in his system for awhile now, probably feels confident in letting the Zuma go. I have one here to keep healthy. I've learned a lot from vintage computer people on restoring these. Don't f...

Re: LYREC MOTOR - Swap 60Hz for 50Hz.
Hey Lewis - get in touch. I have a 50Hz Lyrec. Was on a lathe from Jamaica. I am using a Technics SP-02 now. Wouldn't mind swapping for a 60Hz Lyrec (for backup) but we would need to work out the details. I put new bearings in the Lyrec about two years ago with the help of Chris Muth. These beasts a...

I noticed these are now out of stock on your site - any chance you'll be re-stocking them? I'm now in the market for 2 if you've got them.

Re: Technics MN6042 Pitch IC
I didn't see them on the compatibility list but I have to ask anyway - is this compatible with the lower SP-10s? I own a MK2.
Always looking for a SP-02 but not holding my breath.

Re: New fake Neumann SX74 on ebay (US)
Not to leave out this detail - this claims to be a copy. Who built this? Where did it come from? Why make a fake Neumann badge? If this is No.17 are there 16 more heads somewhere?

New fake Neumann SX74 on ebay (US)
Couldn't believe my eyes:

Someone made this prototype but it sure as hell wasn't Neumann.

Re: Looking to Sell A Neumann Lathe
Hey Amber - I was very sad to hear about your father's passing. I never got the chance to meet him. I knew his work and had a million questions for him. Good luck with the lathe sale - very much hoping it lands in a studio and continues cutting records.

Just reviewed my first set of test pressings from this plant. Single LP that I cut. I thought they sounded good. Very promising. No complaints about having another plant around.

Re: Acoustic Sounds has Doug Sax Lathes going to KS
It's great Chad had the resources to buy the whole operation. Who's going to be the mastering & cutting engineer when it all moves to Kansas? The thing that made The Mastering Lab great was Doug Sax. The equipment alone won't do the work for you.

Re: VMS70 Fixed Pitch Stablization
Not to hijack the thread, but a small related detour. If anyone can come up with a drop-in replacement (as much as possible) for the VMS66/70 pitch box motors/tachs you'd have a product that quite a few Neumann cutters would buy. Myself included.

Re: Vinyl recording gear WANTED
Thanks to the late Al Grundy, the cost of lathes has skyrocketed. Hard not to take offense with a comment like this. "Thanks to..." infers that you're assigning blame. Which is complete bullshit. The situation is actually the opposite: while Al was alive he served as almost something like the Blue ...

No. Even if they could they wouldn't - if it's related to disk cutting then Neumann could care less.Cubed wrote:One question out of curiosity: can they sue you for selling these things?

Re: Sticky residue on Apollo Dubs
Some of the same problems here. The main ones that plague me are 1. chipped center holes, and 2. the smeary oval blemish appearing around the center area. This last order has been the worst batch of lacquers I've ever had. Batch code on current box says A13011. Apollo has always been great to deal w...
