Re: Presto 1C 1D repair options.

Thanks, Yeah, I just have a dead one. Not sure what's going on but it's a 500ohm and I'd like to get it rewound to 8ohm. I noticed Presto repair in Australia looks like he's doing some great work. Just was curious what our options were stateside.

Thanks,

Michael

Presto 1C 1D repair options.

Hi all,

Anybody know any options for repair of a Presto 1-D? I know Gib can fix them but was just curious if there was anyone else in the states repairing these heads.

Thanks!

Re: Acrylic Cutting?

Thanks Jesus. You were cutting and not embossing then right? If so I'd like to give it a shot. Any idea on many hours you were getting out of a sapphire?

Acrylic Cutting?

Hi all, I've seen it mentioned on the forum before and I realize that polycarbonate with diamond seems to be the material and medium of choice these days but is anyone currently cutting with acrylic and sapphire? I believe a few trolls were having some luck with this some time back. I was just curio...

Thanks opcode, Still would love to know if these were specially formulated or if this material is a product already available from one of the plastic manufacturers.

Piaptk, If it's one of those Ion portable tables they can be pretty bad. I had one with bad wow and flutter that was helped quite a bit by applying some light oil to the spindle. I can't remember exactly how the thing was constructed but you should be able to lift off the platter and oil it that way...

Nice Peter! Are you pretty happy with it so far? Is the 40x enough? I've got a usb scope I'm using with mine. It's handy for some stuff but I'd like to eventually get something a little better than what I have.

Mani, I'm not too familiar with the K model but how is the mech that lowers the cutter/stylus to the platter on your model? I know you will want to take great care lowering the diamond so that it doesn't chip or get damaged. I'm not sure how the different cutter path setup will effect things maybe o...

Hey guys this would beat the hell out of American Pickers or Pawn Stars. Lots of thrills and drama for sure. You would have to have some episodes were Mike is attempting to keep the four prestos up and running simultaneously. :D Then just throw in a load of angry customers, some broken diamonds, war...

My 6n already had threads and a screw tapped into the shaft. I was under the assumption that this wasn't a mod by the previous owner but perhaps it was. Either way mine stays put. Let me know if a pic would help at all.
