Re: Presto 8dg refurb. (Lathe porn)

Dont worry. I got kids gloves on handling this machine, with the scarcity of parts and all. Im thinking a full teardown is in order. I agree with that, do not forget to replace bearings, there should be YouTube clips on taking bearings out and on stripping motors down too, or just a simple search s...

Re: Presto 8dg refurb. (Lathe porn)

Well i had a chance to recap, oil, and start the motor assembly....... The 45rpm motor starts up perfectly. But the solenoid doesnt draw the puck into the rim to drive it. The 78rpm worked for a moment. Now it just hums when the switch is on. The 33 motor always just hummed. Sigh. My advice is to f...

Cheers If you are not familiar with it go take a look at a Universal cutting lathe, check my threads I have spoken about it in the last few days. Do a search on here too there may be more than mention of the Universal lathe. It is the principle you are looking at not an exact replica of the Univers...

Indeed Sir Funny you mentioning the drive system as I was just admiring it "look" /design & thinking about adopting it into a diy project I'm toying ideas with. As most may or may not know. most all (not every) invention has its roots in a German, no matter what country they happen to live in. XP Alan Dower Blumlein was born on 29 June 1903 in Hampstead,London to Semmy Blumlein, a German-born naturalised British subject. coast to coast like buttered toast....

I would go so far as to suggest that the circuit for the power amplifier will be a modification the GEC 100 Amplifier circuit. If it is the 100 circuit then if memory serves right that will be a fixed bias circuit. I assume he told your or showed you how to set the bias? Something Like 60mA should b...

Re: Mss direct acetate lathe

Hi yes this cutter was on eBay I know it was listed a few time's, also this is only 33rpm at moment, hoping i can cut at 45 eventually also,I think adding to the drive shaft maybe easier than changing idler wheels, It should not be that difficult to get the turntable to spin at alternative speeds. ...
