Re: Starting a press - Prelim
Aussie, Thanks for the reply. Yes, I meant start a pressing plant, press records (but not the lacquering) and package when needed. I've worked out costs and numbers quite a bit more since last week. You're right: a dozen would be too few orders. You're mostly right again: I don't know much about the...

Starting a press - Prelim
Hi All, I'm Caleb, in Kansas City, MO. I am considering starting a press. Currently researching, working on numbers, profit/loss analysis, seeking advice, learning about the process. For the presses I'm looking at the NewBilt duplex system. Obviously this is a huge endeavor, so I'm trying not to und...

Re: Recordioi issue
Thanks for the response - SUCCESS! The problem was the needle. I tried another that turned out to be sufficiently sharp (or the correct type). Recordioi issue
Hello. My buddy and I finally re-assembled our Recordio after getting a new cutter head from WesTech. We tested it out by cutting a few lines of the built-in radio. Unfortunately the reading arm/head isn't in working order, so we tried playing back on another turntable that takes 78s. The needle jus...

Can crystal head be replaced with a magnetic head?
I was wondering the same thing as mratx - could the crystal head be replaced with a magnetic head?
I have a Recordio with a bad head. Considering that (if it is in fact true) magnetic heads yield higher quality results, why not upgrade? Is this feasible?

Recordio cartridge problem
Hello, My name is Caleb. My friend Kyle and I are fixing a Wilcox-Gay Recordio. The only big problem we've encountered so far is the cartridge for the recording arm. The cartridge seems to be split in halves, top and bottom. The top piece (very heavy - maybe lead) is cracked and expanded, making the...
