Re: Scully Lathe Motor Asking Price?
Unfortunately there’s no market. Usually zero to one people selling and the same buying. Somewhere between $100 and $5000. Replacement cost is a large mounting plate, pulley, bearings and synchronous motor.

Looking for Gossen 0-100mA depth current meter for Neumann lathe
Hi all, I'm looking for a Gossen meter for a Neumann lathe restoration. See attached pic. The original meter has a burned coil and broken bearings. Outer housing is 51.7mm by 54.5mm approximately. See pic. Thanks!

Re: Neumann AM32
I will have to try the round tooth belt. I usually replace the feedscrew bearing when I rebuild. Even toothless flat belts still transmit vibration if there's enough tension. The VMS80 coupling is nice. Diaphragm in-line coupling with no side loading on the feedscrew bearings. The old style pitch bo...

Re: Neumann AM32
If you mount the pitch13 motor in place of the slow motor in the AM32 pitch box it's quieter for lead-outs and lead-ins than if you mount on the plate of the lathe casting. I've always had trouble with rumble when I direct-mount the motor on the lathe casting.

Re: Hey i'm a music producer and would like to pay some of y
I guess you may want the sound of lo-fi playback? Many 1960s and 1970s vinyl recordings are among the highest quality recordings ever made. Amazing musicians, engineers, equipment, and songwriting. Most of the stereotypical sound is from lousy playback...

Re: Neumann SA74 Suspension Box Help
There's a bar actuated by a solenoid that is spring loaded and engages a piece on the shaft that the drop lever is attached to. You can see it from the left side of the box (where the mounting nut is) with the side cover removed. Sometimes the mounting bracket is out of adjustment, it's held with tw...

Re: Metro NYC Presto 6N table, 161a cutting lathe, plus more
Definitely Gotham amps. Front panel from left to right is identical, just different panel work everywhere. Possibly a clone? From left to right, current meter, switch to check bias on left and right tubes, input attenuator, and switchable EQ. Rear is similar layout but different metalwork again. Tor...

Re: Neumann AM32b on eBay
A VG66-SX68 combo cuts a really great sounding record. It's my favorite Neumann system by far. Only other Neumann systems with similar sound quality are whatever Kevin Gray is using (something custom) and what Doug Sax was using (that had different problems than the VG66 and different strengths, but...

Do you mean that you need the chip tube that mounts on the 3D head? Len at hrsrecords.com has those, and can also make them I believe.

Re: SWAP: 60hz Lyrec Motor SM8/3A for 50hz Lyrec Motor
On the 66 and 70 the pitch motor has DC tachogenerator feedback, so it seems like there wouldn't be much 60Hz there unless something's broken... The Lyrec has no such assistance...

Re: SWAP: 60hz Lyrec Motor SM8/3A for 50hz Lyrec Motor
Just a note, if you end up with a mismatched flywheel I have LED quartz-lock strobes that fit in the bulb base in the AM32b and can modify the strobotron to quartz lock.

Re: Gotham PFB-150WA cutting system x2
To use with other feedback heads it needs a feedback amplifier. Not necessarily a complicated one, I think a Heathkit UA1 might even work. (little flat adjustable gain EL84 amp). Grampian has a funny feedback setup where the feedback coil is wound bifilar with the drive coil, so it is a low impedanc...
